Berkhamsted Cycling Club is a British Cycling affiliated community sports association for road cyclists covering Berkhamsted and surrounding areas. We are passionate about road cycling and aim to provide fun, fitness and challenge. Even though we are only 6 years old, we have over 230 members, which makes us one of the largest local cycling clubs in Britain. But don’t be put off by our size, as we are well known as a very friendly club.

Our membership is diverse and starts from 16 years of age and includes all age groups and capabilities with a relatively high percentage of women compared with other clubs.

Every Saturday morning (weather permitting) our club’s social ride leaves from Berkhamsted Cricket Club HP4 1HE at 7:45am. Normally up to 60 riders will form into 6 different speed groups (starting from 12-14 mph ranging up to 17-19 mph average) so all abilities are catered for and we focus on friendly group riding through some of the prettiest countryside the Chilterns has to offer.

If you are thinking of coming on a trial ride and the weather conditions are forecast to be very bad (below freezing temperature, high winds or very heavy rain) please email our rider coordinator here as there are occasional changes made to the ride time or cancellations.

As a community based club our ethos is inclusion so we provide social rides through to competitive performance cycling including time trials, hills climbs, crit racing and more. We actively participate in a wide range of sportives and our members are also prone to organising interesting cycling excursions! Even though we are a road cycling club we have many members who also enjoy MTB.

So, if you are interested in cycling please do contact us or come down one Saturday morning for a fun try out. All we ask is that you can manage a minimum of 12 mph average on a road bike.
